General Comment No. 5/2020. investigated actual statements insulting the German nationality community, underlined the need to take action against hate speech and examined the possibilities for taking action against harmful content on video-sharing platforms. The Minority Ombudsman pointed out that one of the biggest challenges today is to ensure informed, unbiased and deliberate response by the members of the society to any violation of human rights, and in particular the rights of the members of ethnic communities. However, it takes exemplary, committed and consistent action on behalf of the legislators and law enforcers in each case when social peace and cooperation are at risk.
